Author Interview: Bee L. Kirk

Interview with Bee L. Kirk

Author Bee L. Kirk

Have you ever wanted to know what it feels like to be a new author? I did so I sat down for a Q&A with Bee L. Kirk, who is on the verge of releasing her first book titled "City of the Guardians: Introducing Alex Honor". Below is the insightful Q&A that I had with this new author.

I see that your first book is set to release on September 8, 2013. Tell me a little about this book.
I love when someone asks me this question! I was driving on the freeway one day and something kind of whispered, ''Change lanes." It wasn't audible, it was like a mental whispe. So I did. 5 seconds later a car swereved into the very lane I would have been in, had I not listened to that whisper. Well, I took those little whispers, that we have all experienced. I gave them names, attitudes, and opinons, and I call them Guardians. One of the Guardians is called Stilo and he represents Strength. He is the one who whispers, "Don't give up" or "You can do this." Rip is another Guardians but he is not a good one. He whispers, "Kill yourself" or "Kill them."

What inspired you to write this series?
The organic nature of life. I started this book 4 years ago, only writing 3 pages and then allowing life to consume me. By divine intervention, I was able to continue writing and finishing the book I began 4 years earlier. I wanted to write a story about 3 normal boys, spending time together. But then I thought, "What is going to make people want to read what I have to say, unless it is something they can relate to." So, I started remembering things that had happened to me that were "coincidental." And the story began to take on a life of its own.

Which of the characters is your favorite? Why?
My favorite Character is Mica. He represents Mercy. I like him so much because he is to the point and all about business. He also has some hidden talents.

Is this book available for pre-order?
Yes, City of the Guardians is available to pre-order at www.beelkirk.com

After it's released, where can the book be purchased?
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords and my website.

How does it feel to be a new author?
It feels absolutely amazing. I have enjoyed writing since forever and to actually be able to release my passion to the world is a blessing. I have always desired to enjoy my "job". I believe that if you are able to figure out what your passion is, and then do it full time, that's half the battle. Do what you Love and Love what you do.

Do you have a specific writing style?
>I can only write when I get that "spark", that moment when I have to get the ideas out of my head. Now, I work on my craft everyday by learning about different genres and perfecting my grammar skills.

You know the author threat "I'm going to write you into my book and kill you off"...If you were to do this to someone how would you kill them off?
LOL. This is so mean but I would probably leave them in a cage with a Silver Back Gorilla.

Tell me a little more about you.
I am a 36 y/o, mother of two amazing little people. I am originally from Camden, Arkansas and moved to Texas in 1996. I worked for the Dallas County Sheriff's Department for 4 years; and had I not worked there and seen some of the things I saw, I never would have believed they existed. I have made mistakes in my past and look forward to not making the same ones in my future. I am an optimist and my glass is always half full. The goal my team and I have set for my first book, City of the Guardians: Introducing Alex Honor, is to sell 7,000,000. I've got 6,999,988 to go!

If you were given a yacht, what would you name it? Why?
A & J Lovelees. The letters are my kids initials and they are my Lovelees :)))))

What are your favorite hobbies?
I like to read (of course) and scrapbook.

If there was a movie made about your life, what would the title be?
It would be called the title of my next book..."Stupidity is a Choice".

What is your favorite quote?
"There is no need for a plan A, it only distracts from plan B"

Do you have any hidden talents?
I can hold my breath for a 1:05:33 minutes. And I can talk like Donald Duck.
