October: The Month for Awareness

The month of October is not only the month for goblins and ghosts, but it is also the month for awareness.

Breast Cancer Awareness

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month I would like to encourage all of you to donate to any of the following:

Fight for 1 in 9:

This is a local charity here in Raleigh that helps women with breast cancer with treatment. Many women can not afford the high costs of surgery, chemo and recovery. This organization helps those women with these expenses as well as offers them support.

Susan G. Komen:

This foundation works on many different levels. It educates women, offers support, and funds research. There are local chapters where you can donate and/or volunteer.

Breast Cancer Research Foundation:

This organization is working to find a cure for breast cancer.

Domestic Violence Awareness

The more you know, the better you can help a victim. For more information check out the sites below:

National Network to End Domestic Violence:

National Coalition Against Domestic Violence:

Interact of Wake County:

If you are a victim, know that you are not alone. There is help if you are willing to seek it. You do not have to suffer in silence.
