Author Interview: R.C. Berry

Interview with R.C. Berry

R.C. Berry is an indie author with quite a personality. She has published two books of a trilogy and will soon be publishing the final book. The release of the third book in the trilogy will take place at a grand book release gala. Check out the Q&A that I had with the author to find out more about her books, and how you can involved with her project and attend the gala.

How many books have you published?
Two so far, but I'm working on a third.

Tell me about these books.

The Set In Stone trilogy is basically about the life of Medusa, but with a little twist.  It started off as just one book that would tell a back story, you know, kinda like Wicked.  I wanted to show a different side to Medusa, to get people thinking about how a person's past can shape their present.  So, when you see someone on the street, or maybe someone with a certain reputation, I want people to not only think about how they are, but maybe how they were, and what happened in their life to kind of create the person they are today, whether good or bad.  Everyone has a story, and every story has more than one side.
From there it kinda evolved and expanded to include other characters in Greek Mythology.  Like I said, everyone has their story, and there's usually conflicting opinions, so I figure, what's one more? I threw my own spin on a lot of things, but focused more on the character of certain people.  I have a thing for "the unexpected".  So, I decided to carry on and take it further than anyone else has.  I guess I also have a thing for pushing the envelope.

When do you anticipate the release of the final book?

Well, the "official" release will be in February, with the release gala, but the third book will be out at Christmas, so everyone who has supported the trilogy can get their advanced copies, etc.

Tell me about the book release gala.

Oh it's going to be incredible! I want to recreate a sort of Mount Olympus festival.  I want everyone that night to feel like an immortal.  There will be readings from the books, some performances, good food, good drinks... It's definitely all about celebrating the accomplishment but also, I like to immerse people into the story as much as possible.  It's great that I'll be filming the short in the same location, so hopefully everyone will feel like they're part of the journey.

How can readers get involved in this project and/or purchase tickets?

Well, everything can be accessed from the website www.setinstoneseries.com .  From there, you can buy merchandise, learn more about the books and the project, and also be a part of the Gala on Feb 8, 2014. There will be musical and dance performances, a silent auction, drinks, food, and much much more! Purchase your tickets here http://www.eventbrite.com/e/set-in-stone-launch-gala-tickets-6434599059?aff=efbevent

Author Interview: H. Raven Rose

Interview with H. Raven Rose

"A civilization is as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamt by artists." is one of H. Raven Rose's favorite quotes. This author definitely falls into the category of artist, having published five very different books, written film scripts and stage plays. I had the opportunity to interview this unique author and find out what makes her tick. Check out the intriguing interview below.

How many books have you published?
I've published 5 books, 'Shadow Selves: Double Happiness V. 1', ' Bugacolypse: La Cucaracha V. 1,' 'Dark Eros,' and 'Caffè Latte' one is novella, one a novelette, and one a collection of poetry and prose), plus the first part of some serial fiction: 'The Trouble: The Black Widow V. 1.'

Tell me more about these books?
Most books are available for Kindle or as ePUBS and a few are also in paperback. I write mixed genre, almost all survivor chick lit, a heroine in a situation of peril, some of which is drama, sci-fi, or horror, with supernatural overtones.

I've also written a number of feature film scripts and stage plays, and have a large number of works-in-progress in various genres and mediums (including non-fiction).

What inspired you to write these books?

From childhood I always knew that I would be writer. I read most every day as a child (and still do, generally). I read cross genre, whatever appeals to me, exactly the way that I write. Sometimes a character, or several characters, with something to say (usually related to an underlying life them that some part of my own consciousness wishes to explore) comes to me. In a certain sense, I am a voice for beings (my characters) who would be unable to speak otherwise.

Writer/Artist Interview: William Kenney

Interview with William Kenney

William Kenney

I had the pleasure of interviewing fantasy writer and artist William Kenney. During this interview we find out what inspired his books, art, and what artistic services he offers. Check out this enlightening Q&A below.

How many books have you written?
To date, I have written four novels, one novella and one short story that have been published. There are bits and pieces of other stories lying around from when I was young, but no one will ever see those. I still like them, but they are not up to professional standards in my opinion.

Tell me about the In the Shadow of the Black Sun Saga.
The tale begins a dozen years after The Battle of the Black Sun, the most horrific war the land of Kirkaldin had ever seen. Hagan emerged a decorated war hero, but wanted nothing more of battle. He went into self-exile in the hills above his hometown and numbed himself with ale. He simply wanted to be left alone, but he had sworn an oath in the aftermath of the war. If the land ever needed him again, he would return with blade in hand to defend it.

The Stone Troll, Gorin, is sent to convince Hagan to return to Harquinn, the site of The Battle of the Black Sun. The council of mages has summoned him. This can only mean the return of Mournenhile, the embodiment of all that is evil, bent on the destruction of the west.

Author Interview: Bee L. Kirk

Interview with Bee L. Kirk

Author Bee L. Kirk

Have you ever wanted to know what it feels like to be a new author? I did so I sat down for a Q&A with Bee L. Kirk, who is on the verge of releasing her first book titled "City of the Guardians: Introducing Alex Honor". Below is the insightful Q&A that I had with this new author.

I see that your first book is set to release on September 8, 2013. Tell me a little about this book.
I love when someone asks me this question! I was driving on the freeway one day and something kind of whispered, ''Change lanes." It wasn't audible, it was like a mental whispe. So I did. 5 seconds later a car swereved into the very lane I would have been in, had I not listened to that whisper. Well, I took those little whispers, that we have all experienced. I gave them names, attitudes, and opinons, and I call them Guardians. One of the Guardians is called Stilo and he represents Strength. He is the one who whispers, "Don't give up" or "You can do this." Rip is another Guardians but he is not a good one. He whispers, "Kill yourself" or "Kill them."

What inspired you to write this series?
The organic nature of life. I started this book 4 years ago, only writing 3 pages and then allowing life to consume me. By divine intervention, I was able to continue writing and finishing the book I began 4 years earlier. I wanted to write a story about 3 normal boys, spending time together. But then I thought, "What is going to make people want to read what I have to say, unless it is something they can relate to." So, I started remembering things that had happened to me that were "coincidental." And the story began to take on a life of its own.

Poet Interview: Queen of Spades

Interview with Queen of Spades

Queen of SpadesBelow is a Q&A session that I had with published poet Queen of Spades. During this session, I was able to find out about her published collections as well as what inspires her to write her poetry. Check out this very insightful Q&A.

How many books have you published?
Well, I served as the presenter of one poetry collection, entitled Soulful Branches: Simply Words (through Xlibris publishing) along with an accompanying CD, Soulful Branches: Words and Sounds.  At the time, I was a moderator/administrator of a poetry community and footed the bulk of the printing costs to showcase various writers who were part of the organization.

After that, I debuted my first poetry collection, Spaded Truths (2005), followed by my second collection, Private Pain (2006), and after an seven year hiatus, my third poetry collection, Reflections of Soul, this past May of 2013.

So I guess, in total, four.

Tell me about your latest work?
Reflections of Soul (blurb):  Inspiration is all around but what happens when inspiration from one impacts facets of another’s Self?  Reflections of Soul takes one on this poetic journey—a voyage coated in bittersweet waves: paying homage to the inspiration while gaining necessary closure on the impact after the bond met its death.
